Classes and Support Groups
Below is information about classes and support groups available at Parkland Health.
Breast Cancer Survivorship Nutrition and Exercise/Lymphedema Class
This is a one-time class (can be done virtually) available through referral to help discuss nutrition, exercise, lymphedema or swelling, and other topics that patients may need to know after finishing their cancer treatment.
Who: This class is for breast cancer patients who have completed their cancer treatment.
Languages available: English and Spanish
When: English is the first Thursday of every month. The Spanish class is the second Thursday of every month.
Time: 11 a.m.
Where: The facilitators will call through WebEx. If meeting in-person, details will be given when scheduled.
Facilitator: The class is led by the oncology dietitian and physical therapist.

Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Nutrition and Exercise/Lymphedema Class
This is a one-time class (can be done virtually) available through referral to help discuss nutrition, exercise, lymphedema or swelling, and other topics that patients may need to know after finishing their cancer treatment.
Who: This class is for colorectal cancer patients who have completed their cancer treatment.
Languages available: English and Spanish
When: Every other month on the third Wednesday of the month.
Time: 1 p.m.
Where: The facilitators will call through WebEx. If meeting in-person, details will be given when scheduled.
Facilitator: The class is led by the oncology dietitian and physical therapist.

Body Image Program for Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors
This is program is for breast cancer patients and survivors who want to learn more about body image and cancer. This is a series of five topics that include body image and cancer, lymphedema (swelling), hair loss, scarring, and sexual functioning.
Who: This class is for breast cancer patients and survivors.
Languages available: English and Spanish
Where: The facilitators will call through WebEx. If meeting in-person, details will be given when scheduled.
Facilitator: The class is led by our mental health counselor.
