Social Work
Our social workers connect patients and their families with resources within Parkland and the community. Parkland social workers are experienced in helping to identify and address social and emotional (psychosocial) concerns. They work closely with the patients and their healthcare team to ensure that these concerns are addressed.
Our social workers have a master’s degree in social work and are licensed by the State of Texas. In Oncology, social workers complete assessments to get a better understanding of the patients’ needs and work with the patient to develop plans to address those needs. Such needs may include (but are not limited to):
- Adjusting to your diagnosis
- Identifying and using your support system
- Talking to others about your diagnosis

- Information/Referrals to community agencies for services such as
